stock cutting

When cutting off a stock I use a table saw with a sharp hollow ground planer blade and masking tape on the cut. I still get a small amount of splintering on about 10% of the stock. What is the best setup for cutting?

I have very good luck with masking tape and a razor sharp coping saw. cuts threw it like butter so you got to be careful. If the blade even bounces once when starting out those teath cut a gash in the wood to deep to sand out.
