I have been reading forums about stocks.
Lots of negativity about hs stocks and lots of praise for the manners, mcmillian type. I have 4 hs stocks and have had good luck with them. Is there something distinctive that makes these other stocks better than the hs.

I have a choate on my savage 10FP and my friend has an HS precision. his gun is way easier to handle than mine. Mine only shoots well with a specific firm hold. his shoots free-recoil or firm. I want the HS lol. both are .308 10fp's

The mcmillans are stiffer all the way to the tip(more stable) the manners are better made and stylish. I own at least a half dozen of the hs precision stocks and mcmillans and wont be buying any more of the high priced stuff anymore as they dont shoot any better than my hs precisions. Manners used to be affordable but alas what must go up in price must go up for the sake of a name.Really quite sad in my opinion. I say stay with hs or stockade as kevins stocks are still quite affordable.

HS has great stocks and the aluminum bedding block runs the full length from grip to tip of the stock: very stiff. You are not at any disadvantage with an HS stock. It comes down to weight, ergonomics, appearance, and cost when deciding on the stock: but all the ones mentioned shoot really well. Bell & Carlson medalist stocks are excellent as well.

I think some of the negativity you read about HS Precision relates to their choice of a spokesman a few years back. Apparently, he was an FBI sniper involved in some shooting fiasco and it turned off a lot of folks(Ruby Ridge). That says nothing about their product though.
