Stock bedding tutorials

Anyone know of a good link/site for stock bedding tutorials?

Just realized I've got some problems to correct. I *think* I know why, but I'd rather check out some good sources before drawing any conclusions.

There's no one-size-fits-all bedding approach. While the end result is the same, each platform has its own nuances that you have to work with and around.

Focus on the final result. Then work the problems and obstacles backward to get where you want to be at the end.

@AlNyhus has some great threads on this.
Jackie, I've got this Howa 1500 in the Pro Bed right now. The action screws are 6.0 X 1.00 and the flanged 5/16"-1/4" Delrin sleeves I use in almost everything 1/4-28" work just fine for the 6MM pins. I'll take it out in the morning.

Even after doing gawd only knows how many bedding jobs over the past decades, I'm still like the kid on the old Heinz commercial that Carly Simon was singing to. :)

I was having some unexpected results with a bedding checker I just bought, but thanks to AlNyhus, I think I now know what the issue is. Failed to remove the magazine spring. I'll re-check later today, but that's probably it.

Those "checkers" are kinda like borescopes. You gotta use'm right and it takes a certain kind of touch to not get really false results.

Sometimes I've used a DTI with a mag base... mag base just in front of the action on the barrel, DTI on the rear of the action.

So I just re-checked for movement without the magazine spring installed. It's still there.

I suspect the recoil lug is bottoming out, but I'm not sure. Perhaps 'wedging' into the bedding is a more accurate description. Going to review these bedding tutorials before I do anything else.

Curiosity question :

Who has checked a bedded Savage action with one of these gauges, and what did you see?
