Stock Adapter to Provide 3" Width

Just a little project I’ve been thinking about building and finally got around to doing it. This fits my A3/5 or A5 McMillan Stocks so now I can put them in a 3 inch front bag rest and play around. Not completely done yet, just thought I’d share.

Nice, been thinking about something along the same lines but with 3/8 plate.

I've been doing custom one off plates for quite some time. The
latest is to make a Oryx BR stock. I'll have a better pic later on, but
it started out as a 5lb block of 6061.

You do something that will work with a Boyds At-one stock?

Funny you mentioned the Boyd's At-One. I'll be shooting this
new plate at Anderson Creek tomorrow. From there, I'm going
to drop it off to see if this type can be 3D printed with that
carbon fiber mix. One of the guy's in the group, shoots an
AT-One at Ridgeway. and he's looking for something better
then just a slab plate.

Slab plate, that's what I was thinking, 1/2 inch X 3 inch wide. Yours looks better.

I like the sleekness of your design.

Our own UrbanRifleMan make a bag rider

It works good too! I helped him R&D those picatiny mounted bag riders. That pic was taken in the back yard of the house that I was living in a few years ago. We also made one for a Savage BVSS and a rear picatiny mounted back rider for a RPR.

Very nice! I have used something similar for years and it really helps when working up a good load.

I actually used one of the Brownells adapters for Freeland style rails on an accurate varmint rifle I wanted to use on my 3" rest while shooting prairie digs. It worked quite well in my opinion and saved me from switching bags or carrying another front rest.

It can be difficult to get your front rest low enough to be able to use an attachment on the bottom of the forearm. It may necessitate putting a 2x6 under your rear bag and/or do away with the adjustment Wheel on your front rest. I also had to shorten the 3/4" threaded rod that is attached to the top so it could be lowered further, it was hitting the bench top, acting as stop.

I do not shoot AR types configurations.

You are correct.. This is one of the reasons I design in an offset to
get the barrel as close as possible to the bag. I have another one
on the drawing board that will actually put the barrel below the
top edge of the bag. Of course I'll have Protekor sew me up a
custom bag.

I bought one of these. It's not pretty but works well.

Yea, these work really well on hunting rifles that have a hole for a sling mount to attach.

I have one. It helps stabilize but if the bottom of the forend is not parallel to the bore axis (and few sporter stocks are) then fore/aft shifts of the rifle on the front bag translates into big elevation changes on target. I use a wooden wedge up front to try to minimize the foot angle, but it's far from satisfactory.
