Stiller Wombat? Anyone have any thoughts?

Dimner

I do believe in Captain Crunch.
I was browsing through the 2024 shotshow new products list (thanks @Forum Boss for the article in the bulletin) and I saw that Stiller has a new action coming out. Per the site:

Weighing in at just 22.5 ounces, the Wombat features a skeletonized stainless steel action body that reduces weight while maintaining the industry-leading tolerances that Stiller is known for, in a design that’s never been seen before.

The in-house manufactured 2-lug bolt features a 3-piece assembly that allows the bolt handle and bolt knob to be customized and personalized to the individual shooter.

Available in short and long action options in both right and left-handed configurations and comes standard with a 20 MOA rail. Manufactured in Shiner, Texas.

MSRP: $1,299 for short action, $1,399 for long action

Any one have any more details or thoughts?

NOTE: This is the second company to manufacturer Stiller's centerfire receivers since Jerry sold out. Jerry has not been involved with them in years.

Looks like it's a great way to fill an action with dirt and debris. Not for me.
In Michigan hunting season late november, there always will be a time where I get my action nearly frozen shut while walking back to the jeep after dark. I have contemplated using my muzzle loader's cows knee.

This action, would not be good in that scenario. Maybe it's different for those mountain hunters?

Something new to keep their name out there, more than likely.
If I ever try a reg mag face long action, I might consider one of their regular actions, It looks good for the price point.

This action is made by a 3rd company.
Jerry sold the company only the center fire, Jerry kept the rimfire, to Dale Trout who then sold it to a company in south Texas I don’t know who.
That’s what I know.

And Jerry sold the rimfire business to Dan Killough. Dan is top notch!

The Stiller pricing puts these in direct competition with the Borden actions, my personal favorite. This will be a very hard uphill battle, to say the least! The action market, in today's world, is quite flooded. Only the very best, quality wise and price wise are going to survive. Bat, Borden, and Kelbly are at the top of the heap to my way of thinking. Time will tell, but Stiller has their work cut out for them. I really don't think this strange variation is going to help matters!

I don’t know what market Stiller action's are meant for, but it would be nice if someone could vouch for their quality and tolerances.
