Stiller action???

I have a 6mm Dasher Diamondback action with the drop port and I call and talked to Stiller guys and they told me that they could not cut the bottom of the action for a .308 case to work like the 6 Dasher case.It may not be strong enought.
Whats that all about? There's a lot of action that has the bottom cut all the way out? Can someone explane.

it would be hard to load a round in the chamber with a 308 size case hole in the bottom of the action...

MAte there are a couple of rifles over this side of the pond that have drop ports and use 300 winmag cases and work perfectly these are 1000 yard guns and built heavy so have plenty of metal to keep everything stiff.
