Stickers on my rifle?

Like PhilC, many years ago when I purchased my brand new Chevy K10 4wd, the dealer had put an obnoxious dealer sticker on the tailgate! I told them the deal was off if that sticker was there when I came to pick the truck up after dealer prep.

When I arrived it was gone, but magically reappeared in the glove box. Upon arriving home, it went immediately into the "round file".

Never been a fan of any stickers, guns, truck, house, wife.

I've never had adverse affect with goof off on my stocks.... but then again i wipe it off with gun oil after removing the sticker.... maybe if you left it on there... but experience of others says to not use it all together.

YMMV i guess.

Of course I have seen stickers on rifles and shotguns in the stores. I’m sure it’s for advertising but what the heck! The first thing that came to my mind reading this thread was can you imagine going into a hard goods store in Dodge City back in the day and buying an 1873 or 1886 Winchester with stickers? Our forefathers would be speechless! What have we become? I know the answer to that question.

They are a Reminder that, you Bought the BEST affordable, Factory Rifle, on Planet Earth and to beat the Accuracy, and metal Fit and finish you would need to, Build a Custom Rifle, at 3 or, 4 Times, the Cost !
Add a Limb Saver, a Trigger spring, GOOD Scope, break in Barrel correctly / carefully and "Work up" a Load the Barrel LIKES and they ARE,..
Second to,.. NONE !

I remember when car dealerships put their ad in the form of a chromed potmetal emblem on the trunk of new cars they sold. If you wanted to remove it you would have a couple holes to contend with. Miss that kind of class. That is providence you no longer see in a complete survivor or restoration.

On the other hand, I would rather have a removable sticker than a safety warning pressed into the receiver or barrel.

Fellow shooter at gun club teases me about the dealer emblem on the tunk of my car! You bought that so you don’t lose your car didn’t you? I replied yes my name is Jay. :) It has come in handy in some parking lots.
