Steel at 600YDS with a .223

Have a Krieger 1-9" barrel that loves the Sierra and Nosler 69's and also the Sierra 75's. Won't shoot the 75 A-Maxes. Try the heaviest bullets first and work down. Absolutely no sense using the lightweights at 600 if a heavier, higher BC bullet will work unless an expert in the wind reading department. Want accuracy from a "normally" available bullet- go with the heaviest Berger your gun will shoot.
 
It's hard to beat SMKs for painless load development. You have to work hard to screw those up.

Out of our 1/9 5R Rem 700, 21.6 gr of H322 has been outstanding with 77 gr smks.

We've even got those 80 grain SMKs to shoot well out of the 1/9. Both easily reach 1000 yards and seem to handle transonic pretty well.
