Std. 6br vs. 6brx (or Dasher) at short range

I was wanting to see if any of you had any experience comparing a std. 6br to a brx or dasher at the shorter ranges. I understand the advantages at the longer ranges (500+ yards), but what about from 100 to 300 yards.

If a std. 6br will shoot in the .2s at 100, would you expect the exact same gun/barrel to still shoot in the .2s if it was an improved 6br.

Thanks.

Just my opinion here, a BRX has a very short neck, the BR is longer making it easier to stay away from the doughnut. You don't have to fireform a BR, a BR is just easier.

As far as accuracy being the same yes IMO.

Ben,

It should be the same. I have both 6BR and 6BX 8 and 14 tw, all will shoot he same, at short range.

Thanks for the advice so far. It seems that the BRX is the way to go for the longer ranges (since i do want something based on a br case) and just trying to figure out if i will be giving up any short range accuracy for longer range wind bucking ability.

I think you might want to consider how many records have been set and how many shoots have been won with the DASHER. Might make your decision a little easier.

I heard that Lapua was going to make 6Dasher brass in the near future. I seriously doubt this but all things being equal I'd guess that the 6BR would be the way to go.

With my 6BRX i have to fire form then use three separate dies to size the brass. BR is definitely easier. I get about 3 grains more of powder and MV usually runs at or near the 3K mark with 105 bullets.

Do you mean you have to use three dies right after fireforming or after they have been fired a few times? Common practice is to load and fire in a BRX chamber. Are you using br or brx dies?
