Static Electricity Effecting my RCBS Powder Funnel.

Always 2 used dryer sheets in the empty powder hopper. Wife knows to give them to me occasionally to change out. I don't clean my funnels, light wipe with a dryer sheet to make sure surface is smooth.

I am embarrassed to ask about this, but I have never had this problem before, but I am getting a considerable amount of kernels that wont flow to the cartridge

I have de-greased the funnel twice using methylated sprits. I have even tried using an old vinyl record de-static gun (away from any powder), but to no avail.

Any ideas please?

Many thanks in advance!

Dryer sheet is the way to go. Just my two cents. Tommy Mc

Simco or any brand Ionizing air blower. de ionize first then shut off blower, takes out the staticIMG_2786[1].JPG

I have mostly Saturn funnels. Excellent product. I did buy one of the Hardcore funnels. A beautiful funnel but I was shocked how small it was. I prefer the size of the Saturn. YRMV.
I agree with Jeff I prefer a Saturn funnel over hard core gear funnels he mentions size but I also like the weight distribution of a Saturn funnel it is heavier on the bottom and taller plus as mentioned before bigger the hard-core gear is very heavy but small and it just does not feel as well-balanced to me

As far as dryer sheets I leave one in the hopper as Dusty says but I also have one under my charge master and it stays there I may replace it every few months Another thing to think about I run
my charge master and another electronic scale through a back up power supply electric current conditioner/surge protector

we moved into a new home and i now have a big reloading room all to myself but there is carpet on the floor! now i had static problems! i took dryer sheet and put it around outside of funnel and taped it on with masking tape to try to see if it would work. worked great and it has been on funnel for over 3 years and has been trouble free!

A few days after the heat wave where Portland hit low 100s, I had very bad static that clogged my Area 419 funnel with a drop tube. The powder (Varget) just balled up like little magnets at the case mouth.

At first I thought I had double charged a case then realizing it was static made me nervous for a second wondering if I was grounded or about to send a spark into a pile of powder.

Picked up a few tips from this thread if it happens again.

Sometimes washing it with dish soap, rinsing and let air dry helps or do what boltfluter recommended.

Do an incomplete rinse after using the soap. The soap is conductive and eliminates static. Or dust the funnel with graphite powder.

No dryer sheets my house. I empty powder from green plastic hopper each session. Spray can anti static from fabric isle at store. Spray it on a cotton cloth rag. Wipe EVERYTHING. Measure, table, funnel, powder bottle. Store cloth in powder dispenser till next load session.

Embarrassing to admit, but I just fashioned a funnel out of a paper 4x6 index card. Paper does not hold a static charge, so it flows perfectly every time.
