Starting loads with my new savage.

where should i start my load in my new 6br savage f class? Im going to use H4895. Ive got both Fed 205s and Rem 7 1/2, which one should i use?

Either the B105VLD or S107MK will work fine. I'd suggest Varget or RE15 for the powder; no experience with H4895 which is a touch faster. Primers I'd normally suggest CCI450 or Rem 7.5 primers - both have a fairly tough cup, and the 6 BR is kind of a high-pressure little squirt - plus unless you have the firing pin hole bushed, a factory action is likely to show some cratering before any other pressure signs.

Good luck,

Monte

I like the H4895, and have been useing it with my 204, and my buddy has been useing it in his 22 250. Plus i have a good amount of it also. But I think i will try rl 15. A lot of people like it and use it. I wish Norma 203b wasnt temp sensitive, ive heard it is very good powder for the 6br. But ill let you guys know how it all works out.

with my savage f-class i'vehad good luck with 105 a-max seated off the lands, and 29.8 varget. its been averaging about 1' to 1.5' at 300yrds oh and thats shooting 5 to 15 shot groups. i'll be testing it out to 600 next weekend and to 1000 at the end of the month. with my rifle i just couldnt get the vlds to cooperate, they would print about 1.5' to 2.5' at 300, so i just stuck with the amax. next i'm wanting to try sierra's and noslers to see how they work. i used about 60 of the diamond line lapua's with the 105 lapua bullets and it loved them too.

Yeah the Lapua stuff is good but its pricy. I didnt know how good it was, plus i cant get ahold of them anyway, people are crazy buying. so now the price went up around here.

All in Lapua brass, .013 neck walls and Wolf KVB-5.56M primers, the best loads in my 12F are:

32.5 RL17 Sierra 107 2.385 OAL,+.010) 2908 fps
30.3 Varget Berger 105 VLD-M 2.375 OAL,-.010) 2918 fps
31.0 Varget Hornady A-Max-M 2.345 OAL,+.010) 2941 fps *** MAX LOAD ***
31.4 H4895 Berger 95 VLD 2.350 OAL,-.010) 3048 fps

All are accurate, usually less than .4 MOA and have ES under 10.

YMMV
