starting fresh with new 223 Lapua brass

I have some donuts in my Lapua brass so I am starting out again with new Lapua brass. What can I do to avoid getting donuts in the new brass ? Or are donuts inevitable ? My Lapua brass is what I bought from a guy that is once fired factory ammo. I have both an RCBS competition fl sizer and a Redding fl bushing die.
I was using brand new and once fired Lake City brass and never had a problem or heard of donuts.
This is in a 223 bolt gun.

Don't sweat the donut. Keep the bullet above the donut. Is this a factory chamber or a custom job? This is one of the reasons we see so many different reamer for a single cartridge.

The Redding bushing die is what I use. Never had a problem with donuts but those bushing won't size completely to the neck /shoulder anyway, the bushing sits higher than the shoulder. But play in that bushing can be adjusted to size as much of the neck as you want, you can make it size 3/4 or 2/3 or only 1/2 the neck if you like. Wipe a little Imperial case lube on a caseneck and then dip it in a moly-bead so the neck is coated. Run that case into the die and you can see how much of it is being sized and adjust to where you want it.

How do I adjust to where I want it to size 1/2 of the neck ?

The key is seating the bullet above the donut if you can. If you have a bushing die, adjust the body to the proper point without a bushing. Then add the bushing, only screw it's retainer down to size the amount of neck you want sized.

I figure you use a bushing die so that you can control neck o.d.? If so, consider using a Forster fl die, and have them hone the neck o.d. to your specifications. other than turning necks, maybe try using a mandrel to uniformed neck I.D. rsbhunter
