StarShooter African padouk, Kelbly, March, Bartlein FTR setup

I am most interested in the rear bag set up but a picture or 2 of the rear bag alone would be nice, reason being I am designing a new rear bag and it would be nice to see yours. I was going to start a thread on my thoughts but maybe should see yours first.

let me know if you would be kind enough to place them here or by e-mail

need to see the ears mostly so from the side picture but high enough to see the ear set up please then I can comment on my design

thanks

so here it is....some pictures with more detail of my rear adjustable. It is made out of a square brass bar of 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 6 1/2", machined as per detailed 3D model. It came down to 23oz, same weight as the bipod and this is no coincidence !! The width of the flat at the bottom is 3/8" wide, the same as the stiches. I had to remove sand within the ears of the bag to make it "sit" properly.

what about a rear bag with 6 inch long (instead of 4) ears,

what about having the bag more parellel to the stock as in the gatorbag,

what about for length being 2 inches shorter than the gator with the grab handle attached,

that way the ears are fairly level with the bottom of the bag, and the bottom of the stock in F-OPEN with parrellel stocks

I do agree that the rear bag would require some adjustment to match perfectly the system. I would also consider lower ears as they are too tall for nothing.

The way it tracks presently, I don't know what I would gain with any adjustment. Its really like a open gun. The cross hair to even go out of the 10 ring after the shot (with proper body position of course).

do you adjust the rear bag rider much or often as I am thinking of getting a stock sililar and want ot decide on the set up you have or a regular rear stock all in wood Jefferson

Jefferson,

i mainly adjust the rear on load development which is straight and then give it an angle when shooting prone, and adjust depending on range. At Quebec, Batoche Range, the berm are steep and bouncy i adjust in consequences. Otherwise, i dont play with it much. I would strongly suggest that if you go with a "standard" stock, be sure to have those big flat (1 1/2" @ 90 deg.). It will change your life ))) you can have an aluminum device that screw (fix, not adjustable) on a regular stock.

i'm presently using a Jewell HVR set at around 8oz.

is number 2 of 22 what you mean, still not sure but I now understand the moving of the carbon fibre rod from load developement to actual range conditions,

also number 8 is the straight stock line he makes, just wondering which to go with although I like the normal adjustable cheekpiece on it,

the rod shown on those stock is tricky to shoot and i would not suggest to go that route, not even sure if he would make one with it anymore. The rod is a "center of rotation" that both torque, and cheek pressure have an effect on rifle. By adding flats, you stabilize both.

on pictures #8, the wood is Bubinga. This wood is even more stiff than padouk, easy to clear and as you can see, got come crazy curls ))

at this point, i would suggest to give them a call.
