I use starline small primer pocket brass for .308 Winchester. I like it, but I’m not a super high precision kinda guy, relative to folks around this site.
From https://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/as-happy-as-a-clam.htmlThanks for all the feedback. I am not a benchrest or long-range competitor. If can hit a groundhog or predator at 300 yards or under, I am happy as a clam. *
*Where did that expression originate? How can you tell if a clam if happy or sad?![]()
i Don't have much of an issue with LC once fired 5.56 in my Wilde chambered AR. I buy it already processed to save me some time but I'm not looking for record setting accuracy in the 5.56. Just something that shoots decent groups As it's mainly just my truck or boat gun. That's good to hear because I haven't had much luck with 1F LC in my gas guns. Regularly I'll have great groups then have certain cases just be way off on velocity/pressure despite as meticulous as I can be short of measuring H2O capacity. I can't justify putting Lapua or Alpha in those rifles when they get beat up so much, but Starline might be what I'm looking for.
LC makes different levels of brass also, the brass head stamped as LC Match with a case number is quite good. But the run of the mill 5.56mm Military crimped sucks, IMO. So, it all depends on what type of LC brass you're talking about.Do y'all find Starline to be more consistent than LC?
Starline says the 556 brass is slightly harder in the web area. What is the difference between Starline's .223 & 5.56 brass?
Starline says the 556 brass is slightly harder in the web area.
Yes. Same everything else. Just harder brass in the base.Everything else the same? Isn't harder better for our application in the web area?
Good stuff.I added Lapua 223 to my chart. Going to be a lot of upset boomers on this one guys. Lapua measures up pretty average compared to LC and other common brands.
Except for Starline, which comes in at less than half the SD of any other brand, including Lapua.
