Starline Brass report

I recently sent them an email about making 221fb brass.

I use starline for SRP 6.5creedmoor and some 223. Good stuff.
Even if they say no, means little.

A number of us were playing around with 223 wildcats years ago. We approached Starline on making 223 basic brass. They didn’t turn us down, gave us a minimum order, which was more than we figured, but we all rallied and made the number happen. Let Starline know we agreed and would get funds to them in advance as agreed. Well then they tacked a whole bunch of “extra” fees on top of that and doubled or tripled the minimum. Why they just didn’t say NO to begin with? Fast forward, guess what 223 basic, which I suspect is because of the 350 legend.

Melvin, how long have you been shooting a 30 Reece? I met Carson last year at a little shoot gathering we usually have once a year. He’s known the other fellas I shoot with for many years. I even got a set of dies from Carson a bit later, but haven’t gotten a barrel yet.

Primer pockets are a little fussier than my Win and PMC brass. I get some fights when getting the primer seated. Could be some slop in my Big Boss II primer arm. But the Win and PMC prime much smoother with the same primers. Nothing like trying to prime S&B 9mm brass though. I don't know how they get primers in that brass at all. I toss that crap into the scrap bucket.
Since Starline doesn't make brass in a number of my cartridges, I have to use what I can get. In one case I had to use PPU. I found the primers didn't seat well. The pockets had a more squared opening, not rounded like other brass. I ran them over my pocket swager and this fixed the issue.

Probably 4-5 years. Carson is a nice guy. I’ve bought a couple sets of dies from him. He even sent me some Hornady 30 Reece head stamped brass. It was not formed, just the straight walled cases.
