Stand for Zero Press

Recently purchased a Zero press to replace my RC IV. My bench is about waist-high and I've wanted for some time to try a stand to bring the working height up. No better time than now with the new press.

I've found two stands: the Big Dog Steel and the Inline Fabrication. Both would bring the press up to the height I'd like it to be. The Big Dog looks solid, but is it overkill? The BD is $220, but is it worth the extra $150 over the Inline Fabrication? I've no experience with either stand, but many seem satisfied with the Inline Fabrication.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I have not seen a Big Dog. I have an Inline and can't imagine how you could make it $150 better. Does it have some special feature the Inline lacks?

Looking at it, it has storage stands built in for turret heads and attachment for a bin. I see those as nice features, but not necessary. Other than that, I don't see anything.

I have the Big Dog and really like it but keep in mind I don’t need to switch it out for anything else like the in-line fabrication allows you to. I paid full price for this and this is my honest opinion of it.
The ultimate Big Dog Steel reloading stand for the Area 419 Zero Press

I've had several Inline Fabrication mounts for my Dillons, Redding and CoAx presses so I can tell you there is nothing wimpy about their mounts. Rock solid with fit and finish being first class. I'm sure the Big Dog mounts are just as stout but that extra $150.00 will buy you a few additional necessities for your loading bench.

Inline Fabrication give you several options (modularity of the press stand and different heights for the press stand). If you want to dedicate a press stand to just the 419 Zero Press (Ultramount) or if you want the press stand to be modular with ability to share/swap-out the stand with other presses (Quick Change).
1) dedicated top press mount plate - Ultramount https://inlinefabrication.com/colle...t-top-plates-bolt-kits?variant=36919026811040.
or
2) quick change press mount plate

The other consideration is deciding what height you want the press stand (4", 7 1/2", or 9 3/4"). Also, if you elect to use the Quick Change Plate then there is the option for a flush mount base that is recessed into your bench top. https://inlinefabrication.com/colle...ts/flush-mount-quick-change-system-base-plate

Thanks for the replies. I do not need a modular stand. I will "set and forget" this press. In the grand scheme of things, $150 is nothing, but I don't want to spend money I don't get a benefit from.

I had already added the Quick Change Flush Mount to my reloading bench... so simple decision for me to simply to order the Quick Change plate for the 419 Zero.

I am big fan of INline Fabrication's Ultramount Press Stands. Prior to building my new reloading bench, I had a dedicated stand for each press.. They are extremely solid. I think either the 7 1/2" or 9 3/4" press height would work best. Good Luck

I have a Zero and I mounted it on a Big Dog. I really like the Big Dog, it is rock solid. I also have an Inline Fab mount for my rockchucker and I like that it is modular. But I don’t need modularity for my Zero as I’m not moving it. And for those reasons I am very happy with the Big Dog.

After considering pro's and con's of each, I believe I'm going to go with the Big Dog. With the extra height, the capability of attaching bins on either side elevated off my work bench will likely provide less movement/more comfort. I will be getting an extra turret and storing it on the press will likely be helpful as well. Plus it comes with hardware which is probably a good $20 or more of value. Overall, I think its going to be worth the $150 more.

Once you have it set up.... Report back and give a product review (pros & cons). Thanks

Hard to beat anything inline fab.... Love their light kits.... I stand using my Dillon and can't say it's horrible... Your moving alot with the 550 so it actually helps.... I sit when using my single stage or mec shotgun reloader... The darn chair always gets stuck on the small rug I have in front of my bench to keep powder or birdshot from getting in the carpet.... I spend alot of time fighting with it that I don't do standing....

Another for Big Dog! It also just so happened to fit the spacing on my T-Tracks too.

I got the stand and mounted my Zero. Its certainly beefy and doesn't appear to flex at all. Seems of good quality, the only complaint is that the logo on the side is somewhat sharp, but its not as though I'll be running my hand along it or anything now that its mounted...just something I noticed in installation. So far, I think it was money well spent.
