Stainless finish on Remington 700

I have three of the newer model Remington 700 stainless receivers that I want to build custom rifles with. My question is can the dull finish that is on the newer model 700's be polished bright like some of the older models or will I need to sell what I have and try to find the older model bright finish 700 actions and go from there?

Thanks, BK

Use 600, 1000, then 1500 or 2000 grit sandpaper. Sand long ways back and forth until it gets more shine each time. Then polish with mothers mag polish to a mirror shine.

I used to hand polish plastic injection mold cavities to a "diamond luster" finish to make safety glasses. Do not use any paper coarser than 400 grit! Polish in one direction only with 400 paper and alternate direction, when possible, with 500 grit till all of the 400 grit scratches are eliminated. Then switch to another direction with 600 grit paper till all of the 500 grit scratches are eliminated. Finally use a yellow diamond compound with a felt pad (forget the grit number). You can polish to a "mirror finish" or quit whenever you think it's good enough.
