Stained Knurling on Redding Dies

Anytime we have a conversation along these lines, and the "brass brush" thing comes up, I like to point out that a lot of the so called brass brushes these days are in fact brass colored STEEL. Try a magnet on them, and then proceed with caution.

I'd also hate to soak my dies in something that cleans the patina from the outside, and also frosts the polish on the inside. jd
 
A genuine Brass Brush will most likely leave Brass marks on steel surfaces.
Perhaps it might look nicer than dried up oil though?
 
If the dies resize your cartridge cases properly use them don't pay any attention to the patina on the outside of the Dye spend your time at the shooting range rather than polishing on a meaningless piece of steel roger
