St. Thomas Groundhog Shoot

Fun shoots every Tuesday at 0900 hrs to find out how easy it is to hit a 3/4" ten ring at 400 yards.
How hard can it be...the targets are usually sitting perfectly still.

The Tuesday match is simply great! I wanted to try this and was afraid to go to a regular match. Someone told me about the Tuesday practice match. Very informal and everyone is helpful. Had a ball and would't miss one.

Only 99 guns shot the match in near impossible conditions, sunny, light winds, 75 degrees and free food all day long.........the horror........but Bob Green, world famous gunsmith and all around nice guy won the match with a 149 out of 150. The Tuesday fun matches will continue into November until everybody wimps out due to the cold and the paper hogs take a nap until the first week in April........assuming we are still allowed to own firearms then.

What's this about groundhog shoot? I say shoot them all. I had a bad experience with ground hogs. I was walking down a long hayed slope and as I put my right foot down, I saw the ground hog burrow. Well it turned out that the hole was over my knee deep, and as I went down into it, I still went forward. Amazing how fast you go down. Well it snapped my knee, the lower 8 inches of my tibia plateau broke. Plus I really hurt my ankle. I ended up with a steel plate and screws, and a heck of a long recovery, measured in years. That steel plate hurt me so much that I went back to two different surgeons and begged them to take that plate out. But they wouldn't. It was a life changing accident. So now you know why I hate ground hogs.
