Squirrels / what are you all using to control back yard pests

In one of my many work venues, a co-worker used to shoot pigeons up in the steel structures with a home made blow gun. Consisted of a piece of pvc pipe, and the ammo was made from E A R ear plugs (the cylindrical shaped ones) and a four inch piece of 1/16" stainless welding wire ground to a point. He got pretty accurate with it but his blow gun days came to an end when a shot careened off the steel and landed in another worker's arm.

I use a a cheap Benjamin NP .177 caliber pellet rifle to keep the Starlings in check. Out to 35 yards I can make consistent head shots. The squirrels don't bother me so they get a pass. I just throw a little corn on the ground under the bird feeders and that usually keeps them preoccupied. I have a mulberry tree but haven't found a good use for mulberrys so the squirrels and birds get free reign.

RWS Diana .22 magnum spring air rifle with 3x9 scope. Then they go in the dutch oven or BBQ pit. Tasty little devils!! My neighbors are grateful for the population control.

When I was a kid I about lived under the cherry trees with my Daisy Red Rider BB gun keeping the birds out of the trees. Latter in life when I lived in town where you could not shoot a firearm I got a Daisy Power Line BB/177 pellet rifle. I used to shoot cotton tail rabbits in my back yard that would get in my garden. They went really well right beside the potatoes and green beans on the plate.

I'd stick with live traps and peanuts. If you're worried about your nosy neighbors, put the thing in a shed with an access hole cut just big enough for the trap door. Put the cage up tight to the hole and secure it with a couple of screws and a piece of 14 ga. wire. Out of sight, out of mind. Use peanuts for bait. Throw cage & all in a 30 gallon trash can full of water for termination. Makes for neater skinnin' if you eat 'em, or just let 'em drip somewhat dry and freeze 'em 'till trash day. A quarter cup of bleach every couple of weeks will keep the water from stagnating all summer. You'll have your hands full for 3 or 4 months.
No need to make a big deal outta this.

Beeman Sportsman RS2. Walmart for $100. Just use the .177 bbl as the 22 barrel just did not see to have the accuracy and snot I wanted. More than 20 squirrel kills with some "maybe's" that could add to it. All from the back porch sitting and watching the "zone" with a cold one.

Threw the 4x scope away it came with and added an old Tasco variable. They say it will not work with air rifles. Who the hell is "they"?

Put an old Redfield Wide view on for my Sister and BIL. Works fine.

Unfortunately, I don't have a place for traps.. I think PTH ( Pellet To Head) a quicker way..

Ok, whatever works for you. I thought I picked-up on trying to keep things visually and audibly quiet due to neighbors. Good luck with your nuisance problem, either way.

Huggers will like the little rascals until they chew thru the side of their house and get into the attic and chew thru some wiring..
I found a tree rat carcass in my attic a few years ago.. scared me because of wires..
Destructive little buggers..

use the same around the back yard.....

Ruger Blackhawk .177 cal. Single pump break barrel style @ 1200fps (advertised, but with standard lead hunting pellets, about 1050-1100fps). Comes with a nice little scope for the range of it, for approx. $100. It knocks the squirrels right out of the trees. (.177 is quieter than the .22 cal @ approx. $160.)
