Squirrel rifle build

Hi all,
Im having a custom squirrel rifle built in the near future. The action will either be a Stiller Predator 25x or a Falcon. I have narrowed down my scope choice to a Leupold VariX II 3x9x33mm AO EFR Rimfire scope or Leupold VariX II 4X12x40 mm AO. The 3x9 is paralax adjustable down to 10 meters. The 4x12 is adjustable down to 25 yds. I am leaning toward the 40mm tube. Thanks for any input.

Should be able to focus up close with the 4x12x40mm AO also as it is paralax adjustable down to 25 yds. Maybe a little closer. The one I looked at didn't stop on 25yds. It actually adjusted a good bit below the 25 yd mark on the adjustment.
Thanks

dumb question from me, but tree squirrel or ground squirrel? That will make a difference.

I use the 3.5x10 adjustable luep and have good sucess. the rig doubles for tree and pd out to 80-90yd using head shots,
great fun
my best combo of ammo is the CCI mini mag as it shoots .3 at 50 and the hp is very effective

I shoot alot of squirrels, mostly fox and grey. i prefer 10X and up. I have a Weaver t10 and a Leupold 6-18. (and yes, I even have a BSA 2-7 Airgun scope) and all work well, it is just a matter of preference. I prefer the T10 on my 513T, the BSA on my 541T and the leupold on my 40x. All do the job very nicely.

Snert, you talking about delmarva fox squirrels? Or In the mountains Fox squirrels? I live on the eastern shore I am 73 and our Delmarva fox squirrel has been almost extinct. They are protected now. I never hunted them but I have seen white, black and the silver grey, as big as a small grey fox. while bow hunting. OK back to the post. That build should be something, you'll have to show it off (PICTURES) My son hunted squirrels and he used a old Mossberg & he shot a ton of squirrels, I just could get into squirrel hunting. You must really take your squirrel hunting very serious. Well Good Luck Lou

Well, I am unfamiliar with a Delmarva fox squirrel so I would venture to guess the red/grey/tan critters I shoot in Western Pa are simply "fox squirrels" of the common sort. Shy, smart, big and subtle. The greys I shoot in my home state of NY are skittish, annoying and fast. Neither are endangered, unless i am looking at them thru a scope, then individually, ya, a bit.

Neither are endangered, unless i am looking at them thru a scope, then individually, ya, a bit. Like this phrase. Delmarva fox squirrels have been put on the endangered Federal list. If you ever saw one you wouldn't forget them they are a silver tipped, so light they look like they are white, sort of ghost looking. As you have said about the Mountain Squirrels that they are very smart. So are the delmarva fox squirrels. But they were sought after so much that they became shot out (Exstinct) Again Good Luck with that build
