Square barrels?

Jim Clark Sr made a lot of rectangular revolver barrels and for all I know Jim Jr may still produce them. I had one back in my bullseye days, shot pretty well too... John
Micro-warpage would have a much smaller effect over 4-5” revolver barrel, than it does over a 26-32” rifle barrel.

Yes and even back then Jim put a generous radius on the sharp edges of those slabs as he called them. Spect he knew about the warpage and I certainly don't want any square rifle barrels... John

Can’t compare normal length 3”-5” pistol caliber barrels to rifle barrels in terms of heating. The amount of heat generated in the bore from each round of a pistol vs a rifle is immensely different. So different it’s not even on par with comparing apples and oranges, more like comparing apples to a lightning strike.

I have every diameter round nose router bit i think that has ever been made. I have an old barrel channel tool that I got from Brownell's back in the 80s and just recently a friend and i made a bunch of different sized cutters for it. I have several pipes with sandpaper glued on all for sizing a barrel channel. If barrels were square, I could just use my dado set and cut the channels on the table saw. I have a whole set of shims that will make the cut any width you could want, and the saw can be adjusted for the depth. I am really warming up to this now that i have thought about it. Bring on the square barrels!!!

Remington made a kinda triangle barrel, rem 700 VTR

10+ years ago, I convinced a new shooter to try some 600 yard F-Class. He brought one of these rifles in .243. As the barrel warmed up, it climbed higher and to the right with each shot. By the end, he was shooting 6s at 2 o'clock.
