Springfield's new High Power

My favorite pistol is my '76 Browning Hi-Power, made in Belgium, which I bought from a pawn shop thirty years ago. In 98% condition, I had Gunsite Pro Shop remove the mag disconnect, tune the trigger, bob the hammer, and enhance the thumb safety pad. It shoots like a dream and sleeps next to my pillow.

I only just learned that Browning stopped making the Hi-Power in 2018 by reading Justin Dyal's American Rifleman article about Springfield Armory's new SA-35 High Power. So sudden sadness was as quickly displaced by gratification.

I couldn't have wished for any better company to pick up the mantle of Hi-Power production. Not a dead replica, the SA-35 sports all of the enhancements my own Hi-Power attained, plus a beveled magazine well, rowel hammer, arguably better sights, traditional type firing pin arrangement, a 15-round magazine, rated for 9mm +P ammo. In Dyal's testing the piece has a smooth 4-lb 13-oz trigger and grouped less than 2 inches at 25 yards from a sandbag rest.

What's not to like?

Time Machine Dream ! Back in the 60's I bought one of the FN Browning Pistols ,every Month .
.25 Baby . .32 Auto, .380 Auto and Last the (cost the most then) 9mm High Power .
Over the years they went for need cash :(

I also like the SA-35. Problem is they retail for $700. Selling on Gunbroker for $900 to $1100. Not paying that for one of these beautiful pistols.

Supposedly the new Browning hi powers are made in Turkey at the same factory, then naturally stamped with the ordering companies logos.

so far pretty bad reviews....seems to have an extraction problem around the 700-1000 round mark. Hopefully a simple fix springfield can employ
