Looking to buy the 4.25 inch compensated version.
Anyone have a comp. or even the non comp. 4.25
Would like some feedback on how you like it and
what it might need to improve it down the road.
I know the first ones to come out had some issues,
but the new ones seem to have those issues corrected.

What did they fix? In my personal opinion, I’d steer clear, you can do better. When they first came out there were fewer options, people were putting egw kits in them, cleaning them up and polishing them to make them run. You’d have $1750 in one, so why not just up the budget and get the one you will end up with in the end.

My opinion. Worth what you paid for it.

I just picked up a used tricked out 4.25" model with the DSC comp barrel for sub $1k. For that kind of pricing, they're hard to beat. The early 5" models were the units mainly plagued by issues in early production, so you have less to worry about with the 4.25's!

As a final bit, there are PLENTY of deals to be found on Prodigy models if you look. I ended up scoring mine on GunBroker, and the upgrades list is pretty ridiculous. In addition to coming with a leather holster, factory HEX Dragonfly red dot, extra AOS plate, all original factory parts, and 4 mags, it has all of the following installed by a gunsmith (owner was a gunsmith):
  1. 10-8 PERFORMANCE EXTENDED SLIDE STOP
  2. RED DIRT USA FLAT ADJUSTABLE TRIGGER
  3. DAWSON PRECISION MAGWELL
  4. THUNDER MOUNTAIN CUSTOM EE LIGHTSPEED TRIGGER GROUP
  5. THUNDER MOUNTAIN CUSTOM TITANIUM FIRING PIN
  6. DSC GUNWORKS COMPED BARREL KIT
Out the door after shipping, tax, and FFL transfer, it was just a hair under $1,050. I think the only change I'll eventually make is to an upgraded guide rod. Fit and finish is absolutely fantastic and there's not even any holster wear.

All that being said, you can pick up one of the MAC DS-D import/clones with wicked upgrades out the gate (comp or no comp) for under $1k brand new. And the interwebs are absolutely FILLED with positive things to say about those builds for the price. If I had to change one thing (which would result in a vote for the MAC), it would be swapping out the cerakote for nitriding. I'm a BIG fan of nitrided everything for durability/etc.

2-3 years ago Cabelas had a used, unfired 4.25 in the gun library out of state. I bought it, & had it shipped to the local store, When I went to pick it up, it was a 5" rather than the 4.25 listed. They said they would refund my money, but I'd have to pay full boat for a 4.25. I wasn't going to use it for CC, so I brought it home.

It has been absolutely trouble free, shooting nothing but coated 124 medium loads, with no change to the recoil spring. Imma a fan.

I bought one of the early models, set it all up to carry on duty with a acro RDS. It ran smoother after about 1200 rounds but had a hiccup or two every range session. The tac team guys had adopted the Stacatto platform and there was a definite difference in quality and reliability.

I was told by a Springfield rep to send it in and get it looked at, but I ended up selling the whole setup.

there were many factors that led to my decision to sell

If I was using it for fun or pistol comps I would not have any problem with it. For duty use I would pay for the more refined version of it, Stacatto.
