Springfield Armory 1st Gen Gov't 4-14x56 parallax setting

Bought a used Rem 700 with a 1st Generation Government Model 4-14x56 scope installed. Really like the scope, but finally figured out that the parallax was set at 50 yards.

Is there anyone that is able to reset the lenses for a 600 yd parallax?

Right now I have it sitting on my shelf because there was so much reticle movement at 600 yards that I could watch the crosshairs move from one side of the MR-1 target center to the other.

Thanks
Andrew

Andrew: I suggest you check-out ABO, located in Miami FL. Several years ago they were heavily fined by the Feds. for illegally shipping night vision scopes to Japan, paid a hefty fine, are still under investigation. We posted messages about them on this site about 1 year ago. I had a Denver/ Redfield 12x rifle scope sent to them for repair, it came back in the same condition as when it was sent. The cost of "repair" + shipping was lost. I then sent it to Ironsight in Oklahoma and they did the proper repair. Just a note to use caution: maybe they have cleaned up their act.

Last time I sent them a scope it went to Atlanta, GA, that was years ago, a Custom Shop 8-40, it came back with the reticle changed (was broken duplex, installed Mil Dot) and cost was around $95 with shipping. Didn't even know they moved or had any trouble to the Feds.

Mike: I've exhausted my search capabilities, and now cannot find any reference to their problems with the Feds. About 3 years ago when I did a search for ABO(USA), I got their site, and a drop-down page was included that detailed all their legal problems. They were caught importing parts for night vision scopes (prohibited in Japan), paid a hefty fine and the "investigation was on-going". At that time their address was 2653 NW 20th st. Miami FL 33142, tel# (305) 859-2010, located at Miami Intl. Arpt. Their newest address is 14041 SW 139th ct Miami 33186, so they have again moved. The Miami BBB gives them a A- rating with only 3 complaints. Hopefully then they have cleaned up their act and are now a reputable company. If this is true, I stand corrected.

I searched these Forums and didn't find anything in the threads or posts about it....then I did a bing search and found this:

http://efoia.bis.doc.gov/exportcontrolviolations/e792.pdf

Seems that the time frame of the trouble is when I had the scope fixed, 1994-1997.

Mike: That's the exact information that was on the drop-down page when I went to the ABO site. Thanks for posting: I knew I was not going nuts! :D
