spotting scope

Who makes the best spotting scope [I'm kinda cheep] for the $$? Any chance of finding a used one?
We will use it mostly for 100 - 200 yds but would be nice if it would work at 300 and maybe 400 yds.
I have a 36 T on 1 of my rifles and that seems to work as good as most spotting scopes even the 90 X ones?
That's ok but when I shoot iron sites I don't have that advantage.

Im shopping for a spotter also. The Konus 20-60x80 is at the top of my list. Did compare a Konus to a Luepold at a store and the konus was as good or beter to me.

Anyone know about the Vortex scopes, I found a sales deal on a Vortex Nomad 20-60x80 also, Normaly $330, but about the same price as a Konus

But it doesn't rate the Konus, maybe it wasn't tested?

I like my Konus 80 very much. It is no Kowa but for the money it is very nice.

I tried the Konus and for casuall plinking is alreight. I am a Hunter Benchrest shooter and it falls short for that game.

Buy the Kiowa! I have put them side by side to most scopes and it is the best one. Mine is the older 823 model.

Spotting scopes are all the same, if you have much mirage, when it comes to looking for bullet hole in targets. They all fall short in that situation. My scope can see 22 bullet holes in white or buff paper at 300 yards, if there mirage cooperates. In rare conditions with a back-lit target I have seen 30 caliber bullet holes at 600 yards. This is a good thread. I am looking for a spotting scope too, something under $300. Am thinking about one of the konus scopes. Just figured that I would buy the most expensive one I.
