Spotting scope stand vibration

I'm working on making a tuned mass dampener for the top of my spotting scope stand rod. Has anyone played with this before?

With the little bit of testing I've done, I can get the scope to settle down sooner after being whacked with a hand. I've also noted that I can only tune one scope position on the rod. I'm actually interested in reducing the constant shake when exposed to higher wind velocities (<15 mph). Once I settle on a tune, I'm planning on going out to a known windy spot to see what I get.

For the record, I'm currently working with a Freeland tripod with a 5/8" rod. If things work out, I'll upsize the rod to 1" and adjust the tune.

I use and highly recommend a Bogan/Monfrotto tripod fluid head combination. Search eBay and be patient and you will find one for around $75-$100 and your shaking tripod problems will be over forever.

What he said - I gave my Freeland away. It cannot be made stable.

I noticed Freeland has a solution for that I saw in their video, a vibration dampener...

I have a lot of Bogen tripods as I am a photographer...they just are versatile enough to use for standing, sitting, and prone..

Using a Ray Vin... never noticed any vibration issues.
