I'm looking for a heavy duty spotting scope stand for a Celestron 100 ED.
It weighs 5# so I need something that will handle the weight.
Any suggestions or expierience would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not looking for a bench mount stand but rather a heavy duty tripod version.

I recently purchased a Slik 700DX for my spotter for $90 from Amazon, at the recommendation of a friend who uses one five days a week. Plenty heavy to provide the stability you seek. An adjustable head which suits your style is also required.

Check out gear buggy. Wayne is A SUPER good guy!

I have two of these and youll never find anything better. Super rigid and the fluid drive head is super silky smooth. No need to loosen a knob or lever to readjust, the tension in the fluid head let's you pan so nice and smooth its amazing.

A fella that shoots with us has one of the pole stands and in a slight breeze it quivers and if you're spotting at a long range match it's not nearly as stable as a three legged model.

Actually I was looking at these and they appear to be what I was looking for.

My issues with the standard tripod version is how much space it takes up on the line and the effort it takes to get the scope close to the ground for prone shooting. If these are not issues for you then save some $$.

I only shoot short range score.
Space is not an issue and primarily want to keep track of how my wife and 2 grandsons are shooting while they are shooting their relay.
