Sportsman's Warehouse Discontinuing Vihtavouri Powders

Went to my local, Tuscon, Sportsman's Warehouse and there was no Vihtavouri powder. I asked a sales clerk if they were going to discontinue carrying it and he said yes. At least they have not taken the other powders off of the shelf.

Well this is what I know, I live in WV and we have a new Sportsmans Warehouse and last year they put their Vitavouri powders on sale and did not bring them back. Now as I write this I am in Columbia SC and the Sportsmans Warehouse here does not have Vitavouri powders on the self. I never asked anybody why but each store had plenty of other powders.

With the recent (last two years) political climate, powders from Hodgdon and IMR have been in plentiful demand, and the prices have gone down somewhat. So, shooters generally being cheap bastards, no one wants to buy a brand that costs more and they can't pronounce ;)

I stand by what I said before... the average sales clerk in a gun store is probably not as tuned in on what the overall chain's purchase strategy is. That said... it stands to reason that if the stuff isn't currently selling, they may be reducing what they carry.

Just wait for the next political IED to go off - mass shooting, sweeping policy change, whatever - and the hoarders will vacuum up all the Hodgdon and IMR stuff (again). And what you *can* find will be priced thru the roof. Vihtavouri tends to weather those sort of changes a little better - the pricing and availability is pretty constant regardless.

All you folks who (like me) have a S.W. store near you should let them know how you feel about it. And contact them via their web site. But I will point out that if they were selling enough of it, they wouldn't be dropping it.

Personally I think VV has some serious distribution issues. 8 lb N133 was unobtanium for 2 years, everybody gets stock back in months after VV advertises the 'new' formula, I grab an 8 lber from PV, guess what? Lot # was 2 years old. WTF?

The Sportsmans $h!thouse in Medford Oregon is pathetic, not just powder but all reloading supplies.
I and friends have complained to the department manager for years. He says "we get what corporate sends us".
Can't say how many times i've walked in there for powder, primers, and bullets and left empty handed. And they wonder why we shop on line and not local.

I'll second the pathetic for the Altoona, PA location.
It is in the "old" (4 years?) Field & Scream building.
Walking through the other week looking fo a front rest, it was still Field & Scream.

I'd rather go to my smaller Mom & Pop LGS.

Same for the one in Washington, PA. I was so excited when I heard that Sportsman’s Warehouse was buying our F&S. Much to my surprise the only thing they changed was the sign. I won’t be back! The one that I visit on occasion in Murfreesboro, TN is a really nice store that was well stocked last time I was there.

Same thing in Oregon. Medford is pathetic but drive an hour and a half over the cascades to Klamath Falls which is a smaller store and it is always well stocked. To me that is not a corporate thing but a store management thing.

I always enjoyed the Cola, SC store. Good selection, good prices. Then they had the restructuring around '12, '13. I moved back nawth since so have lost track.

I was told a year ago that Vita will no longer be on the shelves at Sportsman Warehouse. Hell they haven't put a new bullet on the shelves in months. Now they are out of most primers

Just checked online for the stores in Reno and Carson City, no stock shown for either store (VV). Last time I was looking for powder Reno had a poor selection in stock of all powders. Cabelas and Scheels have more inventory locally.
