Remington primers

I got the surprise of the year today when I went into the Bi-Mart store in Clarkston, Washington. There on the shelf were quite a number of Remington primers. Among them were some 100 box 7 1/2 bench rest. I asked the clerk if he had a brick and he said 'sure, no problem' and handed my 100 7 1/2's, the price, $37.90 the 100 round box was $3.79. He also had small and large pistol primers as well. If you a lucky enough to live in either Washington or Oregon and have a Bi-Mart close you might want to check this out. This is and especially good deal in Oregon which has no sales tax.
Good Luck,
Mark

Mark: Same situation here in SW PA during the 'shortage': Remington primers always available and I've bought several boxes of 1K each for $25 to $28. I do like their thick cups at .025'. Primers were the 7 1/2 benchrest.;)

Hi Frank,
Wow, you guys have it a lot better over there. You are paying much less than here and from what you said Remingtons were in better supply. The ones I got today are the first I have seen in my part of the Northwest since last November. Any benchrest primer has been impossible to get here. I too like the 7 1/2's and my 22BR would agree.

Mark: I was operating close to the 'red line' with my 6ppc and Federal 205s were rupturing. Switched to the Rem 7 1/2, and with identical load, primers are completely normal. It was the thicker cups that got my attention. Have since reduced the load anyway, but continue to use them. A good 'alternative'. Winchester primers have also been readily available and reasonably priced.

I agree Frank, I was working up some loads for my 20BR and the suggested load was with Federal 205's. I began to get serious cratering with the primers. Began to test with Remington 71/2's and this problem went away.
The only Winchester primers around these parts are some large pistol and some small rifle and small pistol magnum, but few and far in between.

At some point in the recent past, probably jsut afer the Obama BS started, I ordered 10,000 Rem 7 1/2 primers from Powder Valley for $26/1000. Lo and behold, last week I go them delivered - and at $26/1000! Will wonders never cease.

Thank you Powder Valley.
