Spoiled by one gun?

Once upon a time I had a 223ai that would shoot dirty, clean, hot, cold, didnt matter how I held the gun, rest or bipod, etc. I used to try to get it to shoot bad by making crooked ammo by .010 thou and it would still shoot awesome. Ive never had another gun that would do that. Everything after that has been pickey as all hell. I think I sold it because I got bored! Just curious to hear if anyone let that " one" go!

The easiest gun I've ever had to load for (3 shot groups under .25" at 100...more often than not) was a , don't laugh, Ruger M77 MkII .22-250 with a VT barrel that was given to me. It would eat 52gr Match Kings with a gulp of Varget and drop crows and coyotes out to 200 yds like child's play. I got really lucky on that one. I never shot it out further than that but I plan on a PD shoot one of these days and it will definitely come along.

I have two rifles in this configuration:

One shown is in .308 Winchester. The other one is 22/250 with 1-7" twist and I shoot Sierra 90 gr. in it. Both are totally boring to shoot. Put the right dope on and it's a center hit all the way to 800 yards.

Have two Jon Beanland rifles....this is 6.5x47Lapua and TOTALLY boring! Other is in '06 with 30" barrel and same stock configuration! It's TOTALLY BORING also!

I have a Cooper in .223 that shoots Ultramax 50gr. Vmaxes into .3`s just the way it sits.

For a varmint gun this thing is just fine where it is, won`t break any records, but it has put many empty seats at the dinner table in squirrel / ground hog land......

Phil.

Both 6.5 Remington Magnums I have built were that way (the one I shot out and sold the action and the one I have now). Didn't seem to matter what load recipe or bullet I ran through them, accuracy was and is always great

No need to laugh! I have the same gun in a 220 swift and shoots the same way!

Factory Winchester heavy varmint in 222, bought for the cost of a custom barrel job, shoots 50gr ballastic tips into one 5 shot groups at 100. It'll will make you wonder why you build a custom?

Jon beanland 6x47, shoots a variety of configurations into itty bitty groups, fun!

Nice post.

My first 223ai shot like that!
Huge charge window, insensitive to seating depth with vlds, shot through wind value changes, super easy to tune. The only down side was it wouldn't shoot varget... Loved R-15.
Shot a 20 shoot agg in the low ones once. Never had a barrel come close to it since.
I didn't let it go, I shot the snot out of it. Had I known what I had, I would have taken better care of it. I will forever be chasing a barrel like that.

Im still chasing a barrel like that. Go figure it was my first real build lol

Didn't let it go and I won't but relative to being spoiled - for me it's my Weatherby Supervarmint Master 223. The trigger is perfect, the accuracy is outstanding (1/4 moa with tailored reloads). It shot great right out of the box with no adjustments or modifications. Many of ghogs have been sent to the big hay field in the sky with this terminator. :) It's a shame they don't make it anymore it's as good as my custom 223 with a match Douglas barrel.

And I make 3, 70's vintage .220 tang safety Swift. Won $10 with it shooting a fly at 100 yards. Killed a truck load of ground hogs and a bunch of crows. A great varmint gun.
