Splitting a bullet

I needed something for my last stage at my longrange rimfire match this month. I like to have something a bit different to finish it off with that is fun but challenging. It is set at the 62 yard line and after they finish up with their 197 yard stage they come back and shoot this target.

They have up to 5 shots at it, first round hit that splits the bullet and hits both plates is worth 10 points and they are done. If they miss they get another try but only get 8 points for a hit, if they still miss they get another try worth 6 points, another miss then the next hit would be worth 4 points and if they finally split the bullet on their last shot it's worth 2 points. As soon as they split the bullet and hit both plates they are done and scored accordingly.

Yes it can be done, it took me two shots first time I tried. I am surprised that quite a few have done it within their 5 shots.

And the match description I read to all the shooters for the various stages.

We used tape to hold a playing card perpendicular to target; then split it.

Alternatively, for an interesting finish a strike anywhere match CAN be lit with a 22lr... we would tape them to target at a very clean and ventilated indoor range. Sorry proof evidence went up in smoke.
