I bought this at dollar tree to put in the corner of my deer stand. My brother in law won’t stay out of my stand when he visits, lol.

I let fire ants work on a European mount one year. Put a bucket and brick on top to keep the critters off it. A week later I picked up the bucket to a grizzly sight, a skull, fire ants and black widow staring at me. 2012-11-27 11.27.06.jpg2012-11-27 11.27.34~2.jpg

thanks for reminding me to restock bug bombs. i need to start another round at the cabin, the boondockers, and the shooting houses...

always on the lookout for those 'scorps.

Man you guys got creepy crawly stuff all over the place.
Guess I'm lucky no scorpions, fire ants, black widows, brown recluse or rattlesnakes.
Just liberals picking my carcass clean with some of the highest property taxes in the country.

What, no black widows or brown recluse in Illinois? You sure?

My jr. high school girlfriend's father found a black widow outside their house one summer and, for fun, fattened her up on raw hamburger pellets. Biggest I ever saw, body like a grape. Still makes me sweat, I don't like spiders, especially them nasty black widders.

I promise, you have Brown Recluse and Rattle snakes in southern Ill.

I can be usually careful opening boxes that are shipped to me
from southern and south west states. Couple of years ago, I
pulled some used sets of pistol dies sent to me from Arizona.
They were packed in peanuts and mixed in was some spider
webbing. Makes ya' feel alive.....

I do not like spiders or scorpions. I can handle (literally) snakes. Scorpions, to me, are the most wicked looking creature there is.

David Quammen [sp] said that, as a naturalist he knew it was wrong, but anything with more than 2 eyes freaked him out. So, spiders and scorpions.

When you hate spiders.

I all truth, if we didn't have spiders we'd be absolutely overrun with insects.

Btw, mosquitoes have killed more people than religion! Waaaaay more than by spiders.

Hate them all , here in Texas we have all kinds of deadly creatures.... Bunch of different kinds of snakes all the spiders you can think of except for a few that live in Australia.... Scorpions , black widows , brown recluse the list is very long.... You don't just pick up stuff or crawl around here...Alot of plants that will make you hate plants... My new puppy found out what fire ants are a few days ago....

anyone else hates spiders? this might be a bit of a waste of a thread, but figured ya’ll would find this funny.

Went to expand my necks tonight on my 21st century mandrel die (gen x w/ window).

I fiddled around with it for a minute to make sure i had the right mandrel and height set up correctly, looked inside the through the window at the mandrel to verify and had a large (to me anyways) spider, staring at me right in the eyes.

Definitely wasn’t expecting that. After contemplating my course of action for the next few minutes after my heart rate went down I was able to take care of it with my dyson vacuum (brought out the “big guns”).

Kinda makes me wonder now how many little insects we have crushed over the years up inside a full length die or the latter, and may have had us scratching our heads when a measurement was off…..

this definitely makes a good case for checking/cleaning up dies more often and maybe taking a quick peek with a borescope before a long loading session….

anyways, while I have you here. I highly recommend a nice little handheld vacuum like I have for the little bits of brass shavings, carbon, powder, etc thats always falling around our work station. If you are OCD about keeping your bench clean like I am, its worth the $50 or so on amazon to keep things tidy.

anyhow, I digress, I should have taken a picture of the spider with my phone but couldn’t muster up the courage to do so. Hope you got a good laugh at my expense.

*I included a pic of my reloading room vacuum next to my dyson with a 6” caliper for size reference for anyone interested*
How do you think the poor little spider felt when he saw your monsterous, gigantic, and oversized mug staring in through the front window of his house? ;)
