Speer TNT 90gr. Bullets???

Hey fellows,, have any of you guys and gals tried these 90gr TNT Speer bullets.. How do they perform on paper and tissue?? I'm thinking about loading something for crow shooting over a corn pile.. This will be for a 6.5x47L.. Thanks..

I dont know about the x47 but my 6.5 grendel shoots them into a hole. Makes a puff of feathers on crows and will blow a pd into lots of little pieces. Matt

My Grendel is specifically throated for the TNT for varmint. I drive them fast and they are devastating on soft tissue. I'm sure you can drive them much faster in the x47 Lapua. Accuracy is excellent for what they are intended for.

Darn, you must really be impressed with the terminal performance of the TNT bullets to throat your barrel just for them?? I found on the Midway's web site under testimonies about these that someone has been reading my past posts in regards to testing the terminal performance of bullets.. I've posted 3-4 times at the Hide and here that someone can take a 1 quart oil container filled with water and set it just in front of some nice thick dry card board to find out if a certain projectile is okay for hunting deer size game.. Someone did this and posted their results at Midway about these bullets.. If a projectile is able to expand in the small column of water and leaves a nice expanded (larger than cal.) size hole in the card board backing then it's a good enough projectile for hunting type use.. I read that from J.D. Jones about testing the ability for suppressed ammo to expand and down game.. He says if a certain projectile will perform in that small amount of water (the few inches inside the 1 quart oil container) and leave a nice expanded hole in the card board backing that it will kill effectively... As we know J.D. Jones is the creator of the 300 Blackout ( 300 Whisper ) and other heavy projectile for powder column cartridges.. He knows his stuff and was hunting with the Whisper (handgun) long before the public had heard of this round.. I'm guessing a good varmint round will just leave fragment holes all in the card board backing compared to a medium size game load?? I know a Berger Hybrid 140gr in 6.5mm will leave a 1.5in or greater size hole at 100 yards from a 6.5x47L..

I have already done testing with the Grendel using the heavier bullets (120+ gr) and wasnt very impressed with them. Mainly because of rapid loss of velocity though I did manage to get some fine groups considering. I pretty much concluded that for me, the Grendel is better suited for the lighter 6.5mm bullets using the AR-15 as the delivery platform and a long (24"-28") barrel. Throating for the TNT also allows for perfect seating depth of the 100gr A-max and 95gr V-max bullets as well. I dont know that I would use the TNT or other lighter bullets with the 47L since it is more than able to drive heavier loads accurately out a long distance. I have a 6.5x55 I use for heavy bullets on medium size game. I guess the 47L would be a great single cartridge choice between both the Grendel and 55 and it would be interesting to see its effects loaded with the TNT on coyotes and such!

I have plenty of coyotes just never have hunted them.. I did shoot one once with my Thompson Contender 45/70 from a shooting house while deer hunting.. It was trotting along right into my cross hairs and I gut shot it (didn't leed.) I need to get rid of some before turkey season... We also have a breeding number of mountain lions here as well, but the government want admit it... I think between the coyotes and mountain lions is why our hog population hasn't gotten out of control yet giving we don't hunt the hogs much...
