Speer 75 gr hp #1205

Wondering if anyone has any real world data on coyotes for this round out of a 6x45. I searched a couple of forums and found it is plenty explosive at .243 speeds. I'm running 2800ish and was hoping for some decent results on coyotes. I appreciate any info if available! 6x45 AR 18".

Dunno about the 6mm, but I use the Sierra 75gr HP out of 3 25-06 rifles and they DO NOT exit. The Speer 87gr TNT does not exit either unless the animals are small.

Cheers.

Thanks for the response Magnum. I know the Sierra HP, I believe "varminter"not Matchkings, perform pretty well. I had zero luck with the Matchkings in .224...do not use on predators. These Speer #1205 have a gaping hole for a hollow point and have heard good results on prairie dogs. Was just curious, at slower speeds, if anyone had any experience. Thanks again.

In my 6X45 AR with a 20" barrel, as long as I keep the shots within 100 yards they work pretty well for instakills on yotes, as do the 70 grain Blitzkings. Once I get past that, they do the job, but sometimes get some runners. If I know the shots are going to be longer, I switch to the 70 grain TNTs.
My main deer bullet in that gun is the old Sierra 80 grain Single Shot Pistol bullet and it is pretty fur friendly, but you will have two holes.

I have not gotten the accuracy I had hoped for with the 1205. The TNT’s fly great.

Haven’t used that bullet in 6mm but the Speer 52 gr HP will leave big holes in them out of a .223 . I don’t see much difference in the HP opening but they should be accurate and expand pretty good. I want a 6x45 in a Bolt gun real bad .

I run the Sierra 75gr HP in my 6mm Remington at 3480 fps. Very accurate. Don’t know about what it does on coyote hides since I don’t hunt them, but it sure makes one hell of a mess on ground squirrels and prairie dogs ;)

Thanks Ledd. I was gonna try and maybe shoot em up in my .243 as well.

I have shot a few+ coyotes with a 6x45 AR15 20" barrel shooting my favorite Sierra #1515 Biltz Varminter bullets at around 2839fps. I couldn't be happier with the results DRT.
I also have a 6x45 bolt gun that shoots the same Sierra bullet and 80gr Nosler BT bullets right at 3000fps. Again, I couldn't be happier with the results on coyotes.

Thanks Russell. I got some Sierra #1520's (85 gr Blitz Varminter) coming, working on getting a 9 tw .243 shooting. It doesn't seem to like 70 gr and lighter. I could maybe run some of those in the 6x45 as well. But, my 6x45 is running 75 grainers real well.
