Hi Guys & Gals
I am fairly new to this site and like it very much and members are way above most sites on reloading, and this question I would only ask here.
What do you think about Ignition time? for me I mean the time the eye says now to brain, to finger on trigger and bullet has exedited the barrel. Does it really matter ? I beleive it does
for hunting and say metal targets off hand.I have a Rem 700 in 7mmwsm with a 24" Hart barrel made up my Robert Hart its a sub 1/2 gun. I have instaled a Jewell set really to low to be hunting with but I only use this gun in fields or at edge of lake hunting moose, a tubbs firing pin system, and I always keep gun clean including inside bolt.
The load I use is 67+ grains of H4831sc, 140gr nosler Partition and Fed Gold "MAG" Primer at just under 3300 ftps
Last fall I shot a 200lb white tail at lazered 390 yards on a fast walk maybe twice the speed of a man walking, after my buddy had hit him back of ribs, the buck was disapearing behind a large spruce with a opening of about 60 ft then he would be in bush, I put cross hair on top shoulder right even with his front leg and fired, my friend was watching with binos and said you got him, when we got to deer,he was hit once in stomach and other just below back bone center of tenderloins bullet fragments touched back bone.
I think I might have missed this deer completly or hit his hips or tail, using a standard bolt gun and factory ammo. just a crazzy old canucks opinion, just would like to know everones thoughts about this, what I am sure some think is a crazzy question
looking forward to seeing your opinions
Thanks for reading this long winded question.my gun looks like Ric's on your gun of the week, if your think of a 7mmwsm there dandy's
