Specifics of Good Shooting Performance

So does it annoy anyone else a bit when people don't give specifics when they talk about how good or bad something is ? Like it's really annoys me when someone is talking about a load ( people in the casting community are really bad with this). And they say
"O just use this load I've used it for a while now and always had great results!"

Ok what are your "great results " ? What does that constitute ? Because great for you and great for me can be 2 completely different things. Like great results for you is you can hit a beer can @50yd with your. 308..... That's like not even bare minimum for me.

"O this hunting bullet performed horrible don't use it !"
Ok what exactly where you shooting at what range and what is good performance for you ? Because I've talked to people who talk crap about a bullet for half an hour about its poor performance and when I finally got them to explain what was so bad about it they said every deer they shot just dropped and they where upset there was no big exit and blood trail..... Like for me THAT WOULD BE AMAZING!

Idk gets a bit annoying at times. Don't need a complete scientific break down with every minute detail ( heck that can make stuff beyond confusing at times lol ) but man a few specifics are always nice

I hear you Wolfdog91! I'm an engineer and I need data. Quantitative not qualitative. A pet peeve is when somebody talks about a chronograph being "accurate." How would they know? Do they have the measurement equipment to verify its accuracy? I think not.

Do we have a popcorn emogi???

It doesn't annoy me but when someone makes an assertion about reloading, cleaning, etc., it would be more meaningful to me if the performance results are cited that were achieve as a result of the assertion.

PS: I got complaints about not posting pictures when I use to post my varmint hunting stories so I stop posting them so those who complained wouldn't be annoyed. :):):):) I sure do not want to give my fellow forum members acid reflux.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I'm OK with qualitative as long as there is a reference standard to measure the quality against.

I was helping a friend sight in a shotgun with a scope for a deer hunt in his FILs petting zoo. We were at 50yds and there was some guys form the next county north of us. He was going on about how good we shoot down here. I told him its only 50yds how big can a 50 yds groups get? As we headed back to the firing line I glanced at his target at least 7 inches. I think its all relative to what you expect. When listening to gun and shooting stories don't believe any of it. Whats the rule, "none of what you hear only half of what you see."

Had to laugh one time when an aquaintance at the range shot a box of 20 shells at a 100 yd target off a rest on a concrete bench. Had about a 6" group on paper, three of those shots were about an inch apart.. he got a quarter out of his pocket, it almost covered the 3 shots, proud as a peacock he says, "I love this gun, I'll never sell it, it always shoots under an inch".

My pet peeve is target groups being posted with no reference to the distance it was shot at. It isn't that hard to write it on the target or at least refer to it in the text.

My favorite are the ones with the quarters on them for reference because none of us can possibly imagine how large a 6mm hole is. Lol

How else would you cover the flier?
