Is it better for a rifle shooter to focus on one event or acquire a wide range of experience?
Better to practice 2 things quite similar(ar tactical and f-tr) or fairly different(sling and br)?
If I were going to shoot in 2 disciplines, I would do what Mike stated.. I am one to constantly try a variety of cartridges. This can and does equate to lesser scores than staying with 1 cartridge and learning it very well.. Whether switching back and forth from say Sling to F-T/R would help, I can't say. If one could develop habits that would compliment that other discipline that should help>>>But I could not say for sure as I shoot ONLY F-Open.. F-Open satisfies my desire for trying new cartridges all the time.. I would get really bored with one>>>>but my scores would be better!!Excellent question, should get a wide range of answers. Cross training is common for aggressive shooters and what you choose should enhance the other. Basically overtraining a week side with a tougher match.

I forgot Mike! That sure sounds like David Gosnel! He does exceedingly well at both!! You are correct!I guess I should give reference: bench guys use Fclass for wind skills and Fclass guys use bench for gun handling and accuracy testing. And so on...

There are people who have a talent or penchant for something and it comes very natural. That fellow sound like he is blessed to be one of those fortunate ones! I might add that that does not absolve them from working hard at it>>>it just comes easier for them than others..We have a Jerry kloppel at St. Louis that shoots 9 disciplines and could / does win at anything anytime! He just won the rim fire nationals!
