South Texas turkeys

Congratulations! Never got interested in the quarry. PA only allows rifles in the Fall and I only treat them as targets of opportunity at that time. 6.5X47L, I hope you went with a high wing shot if table fare was considered! ;D

I wasn't turkey hunting when I came across them. I was taking a break from cutting brush and decided to hit the call. The 6.5-47 is all I had. I was able to make the shots and still keep the meat. Here in Texas we can hunt the Rio Grand turkey with anything but full auto. Lots of folks use 22lr.

You are so lucky to be able to use a rifle. A 22lr would be just the ticket. Here in ND it is shotgun or handgun with straight walled case only.

Where did you shoot them at? Body wise.

Very nice. I wish there were more in my corner of south east Texas. I have seen them in wooded sub divisions in far north west Houston but I think they were more like transplants. Never seen them in the woods or heard them. Please post a pic after the mount.
