South Dakota VH 600 shoot

Tod,
I talked to Jeff Rheborg a couple days ago and he said it was still on.
The forecast keeps looking better. Looks like any rain will be light and intermitent, .01" to .06" possible.
You coming down? I think I will try to make the trip up.
I hope to see you there.
Right now winds are forecast at 7 to 8 mph I expect that to chang to 20 to 30 by Sat though. ;D

If I do it will simply be to check out a 600 yard match. i have nothing loaded for my 1K guns. All I have is 150 6br casses loaded up to FF in my new Dasher. Just might show up with nothing more than 1 gun, F & R rest, shells, a cleaning kit, and no 600 yard zero. The gun shot pretty good at 100 while FF the first 50....but I need to shoot slow because I have to stand on the bolt to close it on my FF loads. I won't be breaking any speed records!! ;D

How many loaded rounds would I need...I am not familliar with the 600 yard course of fire. I,m guessing that 150 would get-R-done.

Tod,
I usually take 50 rounds for each class and always have leftovers. To be safe I would have at least 40 for each class.
In IBS 600 HG only shoots 5 shots per target just like lite gun.
In case you don't know there are no shootoffs at 600 yd matches, it's an aggregate. Each class shoots 4 targets 5 shots for record per target, unlimited sighters. You shoot 2 targets each time you're called to the line. You shoot a morning relay for each class then an afternoon realay for each class.
Your 150 will certainly get-r-done.
With that little dasher you will have no problem getting on target, doubly easy since you actually have a 100yd zero. There is a sight in period in the morning before the actual match starts so you can be comfortable that your on paper before you get called to the line.
They also have a factory class, if you're in for more punishment.
They tell me that they usually get 40 to 50 shooters for the first match so it should be a good turnout.

I think they also have a "gong" between the targets for final sighting in, anyway they did for at least 1 match I went to there last year.

Well Tod, looks like you made the right decision. The match was called today on account of inclimate weather.
Shoot is tennatively rescheduled for May15. Match 2 is May14, so you can make the trip more worth while and shoot 2 matches with one trip. This would also allow you to get "warmed up" before the first match at Harris.
Alternatively you can come to Grand Island in 2 weeks for the 600 yard match there. Not pits there either.
You could however come to Byers, CO next Sunday and shoot 1000yd there, they do have pits and it's IBS as well.

I'm pretty sure I haven't missed you at any matches in the last few years!!! ;) And besides...My Fords get such good gas milage that I need to partialy drain the tank during long trips.
