Source for used Rem 700 Actions

I am looking for a used Rem 700 action with .380" bolt face for a 20 practical barrel. I'm having a hard time finding any site that sells that action and bolt only used. Does anybody know of anywhere that sells used actions and bolts only?

Local pawn shops are probably your best bet for a used one. Honestly buying a walmart special 700 is about the cheapest you will find them. I would save a few extra pennies and get an aftermarket action. There are a few out there in the $800ish range that are leaps and bounds better than a Remington.

I built my 20p off a used r700 i found at a gun store for $650. Cant hardly find an action for that price. Sportsmans has some on sale right now for $550 i think it was. I know you want used but if you can not find one...

I at one time did not own a Remington 700, but I choose Col. Billy to build a rifle for me and I asked him to use a Ruger and he told me "No!" So i took the Ruger to a pawn shop and traded for a Remington. Just sayin if you got something that needs to go down the road it may be a way into what you want.

Just get a Bighorn Origin with a .223 boltface. Then if you wanted to change it down the road you can get a prefit barrel and another boltface and still use the same action. Being able to install shouldered prefit barrels at home is a good thing to have.

Altus doesn't have the .223 in stock but just a link for info.

I hate to say it but the days of the budget build are gone unless you get lucky. I would mirror what most are telling you and buy a sub $1k custom 700 clone action and never look back.
Assuming you want 700 because you have donor parts?

I'm almost always in the camp of buy an Origin, Mack Bros, or ARC CDG for under $1k new and build from there.

But for a true budget build, even the Mack is several hundred more than a used R700. If you wait, you will find a R700 action alone for $400 or less. If you want it now, then J A has them for $489.

So I can see why people still want a used R700, it's still the cheapest way to go. As long as all you do is add a good trigger and install a remage barrel. If you do plan to do work to the R700 action though, then I'd put that money towards a custom from the beginning.

i am partial to the rem7 ss action for little rounds like the 20p. find a beat up one at pawn shop and bead blast the action, ceracote it and toss the trigger. ( triggertech)
