Sometimes a little tweak makes a big difference

Finally got to the range this morning. Here are the results. Shooting prone.

5 shots each at 500
Left, +0.007”
Right, -0.020”

Both have identical max spread of 1.500”, however, +0.007 has twice the vertical of -0.020.

Also, not sure why the POI was different. I didn’t shoot these over a chrono. Maybe a little more pressure with the bullet seated into the lands?

Good shooting. Generally jamming has more pressure than jumping, and velocity should increase. Generally.

Got it! Have you tried this load with CCI 450's? Working on very similar load for 300 with H4895 and 105 JLK's touching and trying 450s. Looks promising

Thank you. Going to try your load with cci450 as well as br4's. Have previously used 205's but they aren't getting it done recently. Thanks for follow up. Am shooting a brdx, 71/2 krieger and 105 JLK's at 300. Real similar to bra, I believe.

I had an interesting range session last week. New 6BR Shilen 8 twist, working up loads with 450's and BR-4's, Varget at various charge weights, 105 BTHP at -.015 (jump) and found that when jumping, barrel definitely preferred the BR-4's. Previously when jammed +.005 it preferred 450's.
