Sometimes a little tweak makes a big difference

A month or so ago I respond to a thread on primers and I posted my 6BRA primer test below.

I chose to go with the 205M and had been shooting it for a while.

Then in that thread @Joe Salt suggested adding 0.1g of H4895 to the CCI BR4 and try them (going from 30.5g to 30.6g)

Dang if that didn’t make a difference. I shot these 5 shot groups at 200

Then at the next F Class match I cleaned my first target ever. Then did it again the following match.

Maybe Joe will come in here and tell me what he saw that I didn’t see.

Just remember these groups are with the other load and different primers, so that is going to change thing when you go to 30.6 and BR.4 primers so you really have to go that route first.
But as for seating depth don't be afraid to go even more than .020 off.

Here’s my seating depth test. I’m running them at +0.005. Looking forward to your analysis

Love your seating depth test. I found -20 and +8 to shoot the best. I did not try +5. I had literally identical results to you. Your groups look like mine. -20 was super consistent but +8 shot the smallest.

My Avengers shoot best at +4 as do the TNTs. I wonder if they have the same nose.

Ran another seating test around +0.005 and -0.020 in 0.002” increments.

At leat today, +0.020 looks good and more or less supports the first test.

That’s my plan. Take +0.007 and -0.020 to 200 and shoot a larger sample

Does a minus distance; e.g., -0.020, mean into the lands (jam), or off the lands (jump)?

I never would have thought it but I am having best luck at .025 off...I always thought everything g shot best jammed but IDK about that anymore..

I found that 30 and 20 off both shot so well that 25 off pretty much might be the middle of the node

I always thought (+).020 meant in was seated that far into the lands and -(-).020 was the jump. That's the way I mark mine and the way I was taught.
