Something to these abrasive cleaners

So got this ratty old mosin . I've shown it before , messed up slugging it a while back and some other stuff caused it to get a good bit of leading along with a few decades of being treated like crap. ,copper fouling ,carbon, dirt, ect.
Well wal told to take the copper chore boy scrubbing pad wrap it around a brush and scrub. Was supposed to knock out massive chunks up lead but no not really. It got some but not a ton.
Well after seeing a lot of y'all talk about using abrasives I got a tube of Iosso and a ton of JB along with some nylon brushes and gotta say this stuff is nice ! It's still a pretty crappy bore but probably the nicest it's been in a long time and should still work to slinging cast bullets

2 things I see in response to your video comments. I don't see any carbon to speak of, but there is a shit-ton of corrosion pitting. And you do still have some leading near the crown. Where the pitting disappears is where there is still lead.

Definitely looks a whole lot better. That pitting is FOREVER though. Never going away.

I have used JB's bore paste to clean up several old surplus barrels that were in rough shape. My M-44 carbine looks pretty good overall and is a shooter with my handloads. Pitting is still there, but does not affect it's accuracy.

I'd suggest taking a look at the Dyna Tek Bore Coat product. I'm not much on snake oils stuff but on the barrels I've used this in...it works. It's not inexpensive but you can do a good number of barrels with it. My revolvers love it.

I'd be VERY cautious using JB Bore paste after I used it to lap in a bushing on a .45....JB was quite aggresive.
I now use ISSO very sparingly for cleaning....doesn't take much...I don't shoot a lot of rounds before cleaning ...usually 20 or less.
Good luck and stay safe.

Actually looking back I pretty sure j know where the leading came from and why is only certain parts of the barrel lol. I had slugged it once and for some reason tried to slug it again. Well stuff don't go quite right and end up smearing a good bit of the slug in the bore. I actually had labeled the gun as not to be shot till cleaned but due to some poor advanced before I had a bore scope I thought it would have been cleaned, yeaaah NO shooting jacketed ammo though a leaded bore does noting but iron it into the rifling  gotta live and learn that just because someone said they've done something for 30yrs can just mean they e been doing it wrong :D

And here I thought Iosso was the more aggressive one, interesting
