Something caught my eye

A while back I bought a factory reconditioned Vortex GE w/ecr reticle for $1100, I believe that at the time retail was around $1700. I just looked and they are now $2799. WTH

Most places are offering them in the $2000 range.
Still high when you can find a NF comp. on sale for that.
The second hand market is where you'll get them for the $1100 range
and that's about what they are worth.
Bet they've seen their sales go down on them over the years.

I’ve had a GE for a couple years. Usable but not very impressive glass. Most all the retailers sell them around $1999. With NF Comps going for only $350 more and $2100ish for commonly available demo models I don’t know why anyone would buy a GE. I think they bump the MSRP in the GE to make it look like a higher end scope than it really is.. And personally I wouldn’t buy another or recommend them.

I think for short range 22lr it's a ok scope (used), cause you'll never
have to turn it up over 40X.
They get really dark once your up over 40X
I still see them on the equipment list once in awhile for the long-range centerfire guys.
Sold mine years ago. Much better scopes out there now.

I use one on a factory class B14R shooting ARA. I have no problem with it. Just shocked by the price increase.

In the process of deciding on what I wanted to buy, I went to the Vortex site. That’s when I saw the current msrp. As I mentioned, I bought a factory refurbished unit before, which is still on one of my rifles. I decided on the new S6 benchrest scope for my UL rifle. Looking forward to receiving it.

When I bought mine they were $1400 new. Since they went up I would buy the nightforce for just a little more. Don't see how they sell many of them at $2000.

Just a few years back I wanted a cheap scope for a low budget build so I got a 5-25 Strike Beagle (that's what I call it anyway). I paid 700 out the door at a local gun store. If I remember correctly retail price according to Vortex was 740. Today it's 1,149.99! That's about 30% more than inflation. It does seem like Vortex is trying to raise perceived quality a few notches by raising prices. But maybe it's justified/necessary due to world market conditions, I don't know.

Yeah....
I can't afford that kind of coin!!

I bought a used Sightron SIII for $750. 10-50X60 LRTD. 1/8 MOA adjustments.
My most expensive scope by about $250.
But it does what I need it to do.

I hate to say it, but we are often being charged exorbitant prices because many will chalk it up to inflation and tariffs. However some available data shows industry profits are very high. I’m betting Vortex is playing that game. I don’t/won’t ever own one.

They have a great warranty.
Even if you drop it, they will fix or replace it.
But as others have stated, a great warranty is one you never have to use.
They do replace a few scopes and maybe needed to raise prices to reflect that.
