After complaining about the results I got with some Norma Match 22 in my new Anchutz, it was time to break into the Lapua Center X that I bought five years ago, for a completely different rifle. As you know such ammunition has enough variation lot to lot that it can go either way when trying a lot in a different rifle. So here are my results from today:
Next, I fired 25 single shots, one each into the 25 scoring bulls on one of my old RBA competition targets.
When I picked up that target, I still had 15 rounds from that box of Center X, so I set another old torn and partially shot small bore target and fired three five shot groups.
I plugged the RBA target for accurate scoring. Scoring best edge on the RBA target, out of a possible 250/25X, I scored it 245/9X. I was pleased. The picture is before the plugging.
When I picked up the target with the three five shot groups, all three groups were OK, if not great. I nearly shed a tear upon seeing group #2. You will see why in the attached picture. So, here are those two targets
- The rifle was the recently purchased left handed Anschutz 1761 for which I have posted pictures in this forum.
- The scope was a Weaver XR T-36.
- The front rest and rear bag were was the same Protektor loaf rear and Sinclair Gen II windage front I have shown.
- The ammunition was Lapua Center X
- Target distance was 50 yards.
- Temp was 45 F
- There was no noticeable wind until a light breeze during the last ten shots.
