I use my own solvent. Enough of the old GM Top Engine cleaner to make a gallon, 2 bottles of Sweets and I small can of Kroil. I still have 35-40 cans of the old Top Engine Cleaner.

I just switched to TM. No odor and it takes copper right out. I have soaked a bore with it in extreme cases. Plugged the breech filled up the bore and let it sit for a couple days. When you pour it out it will be a nice bright blue.
Montana Extreme's odor is way to strong to use indoors.

Either Pro Shot Copper Solvent IV or Bore Tech Eliminator.
Safe, no smell, and biodegradable. Works on Copper/Carbon/powder fouling, and not on your lungs.

Read the MSDS sheets on anything that you are using that will wake you up in a hurry! I won't use any of that nasty stuff anymore.

I like Butch Bore Shine most of the time
But if you do the penny test Sweets 7.62 removed copper faster than anything, in the tests that I made .

I switched from Hoppe's to Butch's Bore Shine.

I've found after I shoot for the day, at the range, I run one or two sloppy wet patchs through the barrel and let it set until the next day. The bore cleans up very quickly.

I have a bottle of Sweets but have never tried it, I suppose I should just to see if I get any copper out of my barrel.

TM solution and ED's Red.

I use TM Solution in my precision rifles, and the Ed's Red works great for shotguns and cleaning my other rifles after using Wolf Ammo, it does wonders for getting rid of plastic/wad fouling.

Wipe-out for the copper after using Barrel blaster for the powder/carbon fouling.I dry patch the Barrel Blaster away before using Wipe-Out so not to mix the two. It just works...and no brush see's my barrels. Still don't believe it works so well. P.S. I use the liquid Accelerator they offer with it at the range to avoid the waiting time,if I clean at the range.

TM Solution. Completely removed galled brass on a Lee collet die mandrel,don't ask...) with a soaked patch wrapped loosely around it for half a day or so. No damage to the steel, not a trace of brass and it was heavy enough to feel with my fingernail. Had it remove copper fouling at the muzzle on a new Rock 5R barrel with a couple of soaks for an hour or so each time.

Completely cleaned the barrel after shooting 120rds with a couple passes and thirty minute soaks the evening after. Let it soak overnight after patching it through again and got very little out of the bore with an IOSSO brush the next morning. The only trace of copper was in the first patch and very little at that.

So much for Sweets, Hoppe's, CLP, Kroil, etc. and having the wife complain about the smell.

I have used most listed here but none are the cure all.. I use Butches for light cleaning when I don't need to get everything out. Sweets is the best I have used for heavy copper but to remove all of the fouling namely the carbon I use IOSSO paste on on of their brushes. Keeps the carbon ring from really even getting a start so to speak. I was excited about Slip 2000 but it is not really that effective in any of my Kriegers I tried it in.

If the copper is really bad run a very wet brush with Sweets through it a few times making sure the bore is very wet then run a patch soaked in Hydrogen Peroxide and watch the blue foam come out! A little trick I learned from Speedy and it works like a charm.

All of the above have been verified many times with my Hawkeye and it always tells the truth. Anything other than a Bore Scope is just a guess IMHO.

Maybe I overkill? I buy Barnes or Montana extreme, whichever is cheaper when I need more.

I clean the bore with the solvent, and kroil as well as a little polishing with JB bore cleaner, and finish with Jb bore bright.

Clean it all out with kroil again, wipe the bore dry and apply Moly.

I use Slip 2000 Carbon Killer followed by KG 2. After flushing the KG 2, I saturate the bore with KG 12 to make sure all the copper is out. Finally, I condition the bore with Tetra Oil, followed by two dry patches.

I started with JB paste and Sweet's 7.62 about 10 years ago.

I got some Shooter's Choice.

I got some Kroil.

I got some Flitz.

I got some Butch's Bore Shine.

I got some Pro Shot Copper Solvent II

I got some Wipe Out.

I tried making my own electrolyte - cathode - anode.

I got some 50BMG.

I got some Calhoon JT 40 [at $10/pint, it is some cheap Shooter's Choice]


My current system is to get new factory lapped barrels, burnish with Lyman Moly bore cream, shoot only moly coated bullets at 3600 fps or less, and clean with Foul Out, 50MBG, Flitz, and bronze brushes.
I only clean if I see Copper in the bore at the muzzle.
Usually I can get 500 rounds, and stay 1/2 moa ~ 1 moa between cleaning.
