soft Rifle Case for Competition Rifles

I've had a hard time finding a fare priced, soft rifle case to fit my F-class rifles. I had resorted to using a midway drag bag because you can get a long rifle in them.

I was in Bass Pro this weekend with my better half, and happened to walk by the gun cases. I found the case in the pictures.

It's a redhead brand.

It fits a 53 inch rifle. The interior has very think padding, with pockets for the muzzle and butt of the gun to fit in. Then it has two Velcro straps as well. The outside is reenforced with a thick rubber padding to keep the material from tearing. It has two outer pockets, a carry handle, and a shoulder strap.

The stk# is in the picture.

The gun in the picture is 52 inches long.

Hope this helps someone. It's pretty tough to beat for 52.99

John makes some of the best soft cases for long rifles you will find.

Great fellow and good to do business with.

A Soft Case for a competition rifle?

What did you pay for your rifle including your scope?

I highly recommend a hard case.

Alot of Tac guy's including my self use soft case drag bags. Midway sells a nice one. Most of the high end scope on those tac rifles are U.S. Optics, S&B's , high dollar N.F.'s.

Hard cases weigh too much, are problematic to fit in the car, and take up way too much room in general. Soft cases provide plenty of protection for anything except commercial airline baggage handling, IMO.

Outdoorsman,
I stopped using the hard cases due to the weight and how much room they take up. When 3 of us go to matches we take 2 rifle a piece so there isn't room for the hard cases.

The soft cases work much better for when we have to walk a long distance to get to the firing line.

Moving to different yardlines is a pain with a hard case. Great for transporting via air, etc, but I have never had an issue traveling by vehicle or at the range when using a soft case. Obviously the rifle cases shouldn't be at the bottom of the trunk with all sorts of heavy gear on top. The windage zero on my match rifles was always impeccable over many years.

The cases from www.prone2success.com are outstanding. He uses a 1" thick, very dense padding material, H-D YKK zippers, handles that wrap the case completely and reinforcement at all of the critical wear areas. Believe that he offers cases to 63" long.

Here is what I have: http://shop.hafnerbags.com/CONQUEST-GUN-CASES_c3.htm Nice heavy padded case with stout zipper.

Ditto

If you cant be depended on handling carefully, who can. I just bougt a Boyt 52" for my BR gun. Should it get damp-easy to hang by the heater and dry it. Never store a gun in any case. I do it on my AR but know I shouldnt..

Ordered two of the cases on Monday and just got them they are very well made and protect my F-class rifles very well. No more hauling the heavy Pelicans to local matches.
