So who numbers their ammo?

Only when doing testing. In Sharpie. On the side of the case. Large enough to see clearly without readers. Usually powder charge or length change from touch.

One time I spilled an umarked box of different powder charges. The neat rows all disappeared. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Loose pockets, if still usable, get a darkened base for future reference. Unexplained flyers may go back in the box upside down. Some days they might all be upside down though.

I do this too. Length, powder charge, and loose primers.

Only for guys that never clean their brass but then I come from a class of folks that indexed their brass. LOL!!

I write powder charge or CBTO on the case when I'm testing. I dont number rounds, instead, I do this:
I use a K&M arbor press with the force pak to seat bullets. I record the load data in a log book. I also record the seating force and CBTO of each completed round. I keep them in the same order as they go in the box. Once I fire a round, it goes back in the same spot in the box. If its a flier or out of the group, it goes back in inverted unless I know I caused it. I can then refer back to the seating force log to try and see what caused the flier, if it wasn't me. Most of the time, I am the cause.

I don't number them, but I do use a Dry Erase Sharpie on Dry Erase tape inside the lid of an MTM box for load tests. or for Sighter's for a Match
