So I Get This Email

I am Surprised he didn't offer you an extra 500 and then ask you to give 300 to the guy picking up the gun because you know it's only fair that he gets some money for his trouble

That email read something similar to the one below....:D

"I is a Nigerian prince & I are in trouble. If u send me your rifle for sale Illlll reward you with $100 Thounds Dollars for helping me with your rifle. Trusts me, it wills go through my FFL. I thank you for your help in my troubling times."

I like how he listed all the stuff he was moving since that was relevant to the purchase of your firearm.

I had a similar attempt on me 6 or 8 years ago; all by email. I had him send his check to the local sheriff's dept's address.

Scam. Get one of those emails once in a while when I post something on CL.

The key is where he says cash the check. But the answer is waiting for the check to clear, which it won't. The syntax is Nigerian as well.

Well i know what y'all are sayin'! That is why i wanted to post this.. you never know.. someone else may be reading this without replying to the thread and say hey.. that guy contacted me too! You know that i am not the only one! Yeah.. once i read that paragraph.. i knew it had West Coast Africa written all over it!
Post anything of value on armslist and you will get these a lot

Tell him to send the check so you can hand it over to law enforcement. Ask them to meet and arrest the fake FFL. --Jerry

Well i have asked for the FFL number.. didn't say why i wanted it.. just that i request that he give it to me before going any further!

Randy,

Sounds about as legit as the call I got when selling my gun cabinet a few years ago on craigs list. Never heard back when I said this is a cash only transaction! She was sending her moving guys over to pick it up with a cashiers check for more than I was asking, just give her guys $200.00 for their expenses. She had a Eastern European accent on the phone messages left. I was sure she was being honest (not).

I have had "money orders" sent to me for my guns for sale ads.Same language as your guy. When I take the MO to my bank they laugh really hard at the "money order" or "certified check" and send it to the bank's lawyers. One day I got 3 responses that were identical in the body of their emails. Like right out of a scammers textbook.
